Course Title: Research I
Course Description: An online elective course offering 0.5 credits. Aligned with Arkansas State Library Media Frameworks, it prepares students for college-level research. Through the exploration of career interests and global themes, this course enhances students' research skills. Accessible at any time and from anywhere, students engage in weekly assignments, periodic assessments, and participate in mid and/or end-of-semester culminating activities (examples: in-person or online presentation/showcase).

Grading: Grading will be based on participation, completion of assignments, research papers, presentations, and reflection components.

Self-Assessment and Career Interest Introduction
- Introduction to the course & self-assessment (1-2 hours)
- Personality test exploration (1-2 hours)
- Finalize and document career personality tests results (1-2 hours)
- Research and Writing Tutorials (6 hours)
- Research and creation of note cards for 1 to 2 career interests (4-7 hours)
- Student Open Work Day Time and Reflection (1-3 hours)
Community Engagement
- Research and Writing Tutorials (3 hours)
- Research and creation of note cards for the third career interest (7 hours)
- Research and creation of note cards for community-related career interest & nomination presentation (10-14 hours)

Exploring Global Themes
- Research and Writing Tutorials (3 hours)
- Research and creation of note cards on career interest's global connections (4-7 hours)
- Write and finalize research paper based on career interest and global connections (7 hours)

- Create and present 5 min. research paper slideshow (2-3 hours)
